North Eastern Rly 0-6-0 No 1569 1. NER passenger green. T W Worsdell class C goods engine. No fewer than 171 of these were built as two-cylinder compounds at Gateshead and Darlington in 1886 - 1892. Their duties included the Durham coke trains over Stainmore to Tebay and Cockermouth. All were eventually converted to simples and most received superheated boilers. This model appears to show No 1569 as a simple after conversion. The LNER classed the locos as J21. Many lasted into BR days, and one survives as BR 65033 at Locomotion, the Shildon branch of the National Rly Museum.
