44905, Hest Bank, August 1967. A northbound freight comes off the Bare Lane line. It has just passed under the gantry which replaced the LNWR gantry seen earlier. The upper quadrant semaphore controlling egress from Bare Lane is still raised. Next to it is a colour light controlling the down main. On the other side there was a calling-on semaphore for the station sidings. The catch point and semaphore seen in Ron Herbert's photo can also be seen. What is the purpose of the point rodding in the foreground? By the time of this photo there were no points in the goods yard. The 10A (Carnforth) Black 5 was withdrawn three months later. Camping coaches were still in place at the time of this photo, by Andrew Naylor.
